A consortium of Civil Society Organisation groups working to promote the implementation of the African Governance Architecture (AGA) on the continent are meeting in Accra from April 17 -19, 2018, to strategise for effective implementation of the mechanism.
The meeting forms part of activities under the project Mobilising Civil Society Support for Implementation of the African Governance Architecture,aimed at creating awareness of the principles of the Architecture and demand for its implementation.
The objective of the Architecture is to promote and protect human and people’s rights, consolidate democratic institutions and culture and ensure good governance and the rule of law on the African continent.
The consortium is made up of ActionAid country organisations in Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, Uganda and Mozambique; Mass Public Opinion Institute (MPOI), Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) as well as network of regional Civil Society organisations such as West Africa Civil Society Forum (WACSOF), East Africa Civil Society Organisation Forum (EACSOF) and the South African Development Community Council of NGO (SADC-CNGO).
The meeting will be followed by a one-day training on April 20, on the use of a media strategy, developed by MFWA, to equip project partners to effectively deploy appropriate media tools and channels to enhance the visibility of theproject.
The project is being implemented with funding support from European Commission.
