The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) on Tuesday January 31, 2017 held a Post-Election Media Forum and Awards at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel in Accra, Ghana.
The forum brought together stakeholders, including the Electoral Commission and the Ghana Police Service who deliberated on how the Ghanaian media covered Ghana 2016 Elections. The Forum discussed the challenges, lessons learnt and recommendations on how the media could do better in deepening Ghana’s democracy.
The event themed, The Media and the 2016 Elections: Challenges, Lessons and Prospects for the Future, was chaired by the Chairman of the Ghana’s National Media Commission, Mr. Kwasi Gyan-Apenteng and featured presentations and a panel discussion on the media’s coverage of the elections.
Some radio stations that distinguished themselves in promoting issues-based programming devoid of indecent expressions during the electioneering period were honoured.
The Post-Elections Media Forum and Awards was organised with funding support from STAR-Ghana and the Embassy of France in Ghana.
