The ECOWAS Civil Society Organizations Platform on Transparency and Accountability in Governance (ECSOPTAG) congratulates Her Excellency, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of the Republic of Liberia, on her appointment as chairperson of the ECOWAS.
This appointment is a reflection of the excellent work Her Excellency has done in her country and the West Africa region at large. ECSOPTAG is exceptionally elated by Her Excellency’s call to member states for an intensified onslaught on terrorism as part of mechanisms to consolidate peace and security in the region.
Her Excellency’s decision to also prioritize the ECOWAS’ vision 2020 is timely in the Community’s quest to champion inclusive development, which embraces participatory governance, non-discrimination, transparency, accountability and human rights advocacy.
ECSOPTAG hopes that Her Excellency would use her experiences and influence to promote the successful implementation of policies that endorse transparency, accountability and integrity governance across the region.
As  a civil society platform committed to promoting integrity in governance in the ECOWAS region, we pledge to offer our support to the efforts of Her Excellency to ensure the realization of her dreams and vision for the ECOWAS during her tenure as chairperson.
